My next project focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals and how to communicate them effectively through design. I have been tasked with creating a branded home screen, designing one SDG for a 10-year-old audience, and developing a supporting style guide, all presented in a Figma prototype. This project will explore how design can make global issues more engaging and accessible for younger audiences.

The Sustainable Development Goals

The first stage of this project involved gaining a deeper understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and their global significance. The SDGs are a set of 17 interconnected goals established by the United Nations to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, and sustainability. As a designer, understanding the content and meaning behind each goal is essential, as it ensures that what I create isn’t only visually appealing but also carries an informative and impactful message. This foundation gives me a stronger sense of purpose and helps shape how I communicate important topics through design. As this project focuses on designing for a 10-year-old audience, it becomes even more important to break down the complex information within the SDGs into clear, engaging, and understandable visuals. Learning how to translate serious global issues into accessible and educational content is a challenge I’m looking forward to, as it will help me grow my ability to design with empathy and purpose while keeping the experience both informative and enjoyable for younger users.

Each goal focuses on tackling major world issues such as poverty, equality, education, and climate change. Understanding each SDG individually is important for me as a designer, as it allows me to create meaningful and informed design solutions that align with their purpose.
