This week’s lecture focused on a critique of our progress on designing microinteractions for this semester’s project. Receiving feedback on my work so far was helpful in refining my ideas and understanding areas for improvement. We also revisited the brief and requirements for our second project, Future Living, and took part in an in-class workshop to explore the best ways to approach it. I found this session particularly beneficial, as it provided clear direction and practical insight to support my next steps moving forward.
The main focus of the session was receiving direct feedback from Kyle on my microinteraction designs. This critique helped clarify how effectively my ideas communicate interaction and feedback, while also highlighting areas where refinements could improve clarity, purpose, and overall user experience.

The feedback I received was very positive overall. Kyle highlighted that the designs were strong and professional, with a good range of styles that fit well within their intended contexts. Although some of my images were slightly misleading and could be interpreted differently than intended, the concepts still communicated well. He also noted that while the ice cream transition felt different from the others, experimenting with something more playful was a strength, and encouraged me to continue developing it by making minor refinements to complete the set.
As part of the lecture, we completed an in-class task to help kick-start and progress our second project on future living. Kyle guided us through a series of activities that began with sketching early ideas for a future-proof product or device that could benefit people or a specific area of interest. I found this exercise enjoyable and engaging, as I naturally drew inspiration from future-focused films I’ve seen. We then developed these ideas further by combining them and mapping out simple storyboards, which I found particularly useful for clearly explaining how my concept would function in a future context.

Overall, this week’s class was really positive and productive. I felt my critique went well, as I was able to present a set of unique, engaging microanimations and received strong, encouraging feedback on the designs and overall execution. The introduction to our second project was also enjoyable and motivating, and it’s given me a lot of confidence and enthusiasm to start developing ideas and making progress on it over the coming weeks.
