This week, Abi and I met up again briefly before returning from our Easter break to review our progress and assess the project's direction. We had both developed a range of ideas, so we focused on refining and prioritising what was most important, while also sharing feedback and building on each other’s work. I feel very positive about our progress and believe we are nearing the final stages of the project. This session helped us feel more aligned and confident in the direction we are taking.
Based on the agenda we created last week, we began with a quick review of the progress made against our planned focus areas. This helped us stay aligned and ensured we were developing the most important aspects of the project. I focused primarily on refining the branding of our service, while also beginning to explore ideas for physical outputs, such as a support pack or resources that could be provided to prisoners to guide them through their transition.

This allowed us to stay on track with our goals while beginning to shape more tangible outcomes for the project.

As I focused on the branding and visual direction of our project, Abi suggested we review this first. We both felt the design was strong, visually appealing, and well aligned with our overall aims and goals. This gave us confidence to develop it further, particularly in translating the brand into more physical outputs, such as a support package or resources for prisoners to use.
After reviewing some of my branding work, we both agreed, based on research we had carried out, that providing physical resources for prisoners would be a strong and meaningful direction, particularly in relation to our focus on fatherhood and relationships with children. Building on this, Abi began to mind map potential ideas to explore what we could realistically create and offer as part of our service for prisoners and those transitioning back into society.

This helped us begin shaping practical, user-focused outputs that align closely with our project aims.

With this direction in mind, I feel focusing on physical outputs will significantly strengthen our project. Rather than concentrating solely on how the service looks or is presented visually, developing tangible elements allows us to better demonstrate how the service would function in a real-world context. Creating and refining these physical resources will help bring our ideas to life in a more meaningful and practical way, and is something I feel we can develop strongly as we move towards the final stages of the project.

This week’s meetup was more focused on discussion and direction rather than active development, but it proved to be highly beneficial. We spent time communicating our ideas and deciding on the next steps, which helped us gain clarity on how to approach the final stages of the project. I’ve taken the lead on developing the physical support elements, drawing on my experience in branding, and will continue to explore this direction while keeping the group involved as the ideas progress.
