This week we covered the topic of putting images into HTML. This allowed me to understand the different types of image formats and their acronyms which I can use for a webpage. They include:
Image formats that are suitable and best towards photographs that I may use to upload are JPEG and WebP, as they provide slightly better compression.
Image formats that are best for images that need transparency are WebP, PNG and GIF as some files including the GIF have a limited palette of 256 colours.
Image formats that are best to use for icons, diagrams and logos are mostly PNG and SVG files as they use flat colour and need to have transparency.
While learning about Image compression, I was able to trial and test out different methods of making image files smaller by using a website called Squoosh.app to help improve my skill and understanding of how to compress images.
