This week, we were given an introduction to our new topic which is about visual imaging and interactions. Alongside a review of what our new topic entails, we were also given a brief on what our projects were going to be for our second semester and what we had to for each of them which I was excited to start as I had enjoyed our previous projects from first Semester.
We have been assigned the challenging and exciting task of developing a music app/player from the ground up. This project represents a significant milestone in our coursework, as it marks our first substantial opportunity to design and implement a complete user interface. The prospect of creating an interactive music platform is particularly thrilling, especially given the technical and creative challenges it presents. One crucial consideration that weighs heavily on my mind is the highly competitive and saturated nature of the music app market. With numerous established players and countless alternatives already available to users, creating a distinctive and valuable product requires careful thought and strategic planning. This competitive landscape necessitates that I develop a truly innovative approach to help my application stand out in a meaningful way among the multitude of existing music apps. After careful consideration of various potential directions, I've concluded that the most effective strategy would be to concentrate primarily on developing robust and innovative features, along with carefully curated content within the app itself. While visual design and aesthetic appeal are certainly important elements, I believe that prioritising functionality and user experience will yield better long-term results. This approach feels more sustainable than focusing solely on creative styling, as a purely aesthetic focus might pose challenges during later development stages and potentially limit the app's practical utility for users.
I had the chance to try alongside the rest of the class, a site called Mentimeter.com which was used a live poll for us to enter any words that come to mind based on an image or word that we saw on screen. Ours was based on different design brands so I was able to note down that I thought as well as see what others did too, allowing myself to pick up new words to use.

Although we didn't cover extensive content in our first class of the module, our discussion of upcoming work was promising. I'm excited to begin developing my music app, but I'll first complete the master-apprentice task since it will help establish a strong foundation. Overall, this looks to be an engaging class with plenty of hands-on experience.
