This week, we looked at the topic of transitioning from working paper and sketches to the idea of working digitally such as Illustration. We were able to see how illustrations are used as well as the different styles they can involve, which I can use towards developing my music player app.
We began by looking at some artists who’s work involves different styles of illustration, as this would allow us to understand how they do it as well as what techniques are involved and how someone like myself could incorporate into my own designs.

Sara Fanelli is one of my favorite illustrators, and I'd love to use her style in user interface design. Her work combines simple hand-drawn sketches with real photographs in a unique way that draws from Russian Constructivist art. What I find fascinating is how her artwork can be both appealing and slightly unsettling at the same time. Her drawings may look rough and quick, but every element is carefully planned. I'm especially impressed by her website, which uses her artistic style in a simple interface. This shows that her style could work well in more complex user interface designs too.

Oliver Jeffers creates wonderful children's books by combining simple stories with his own unique art style. What makes his work special is how he puts his personality into every illustration. His style is distinct and honest, which makes his artwork really stand out. Each page of his books is full of character, and I love how he creates scenes that are simple yet detailed. His illustrations often have a subtle feeling of solitude, which actually helps readers feel more connected to the story. What I find most impressive is how he pairs his beautiful, one-of-a-kind art style with quirky and imaginative stories.

By researching and learning about different artists within the illustration sector, I was able to understand more of how and why they do what they do as well as give myself a better understanding of how to utilise and use these tools within my own projects including our music player app use some inspiration taken from the artists today.
